Tom has been building Web infrastructure for the past 16 years. While at Yahoo!, Tom was responsible for the message transport system used by virtually all Yahoo! services, built the back-end data store for Yahoo!””s first foray into social networking (Yahoo! 360°), and lead the development of the Yahoo! Updates platform that syndicated digests of user generated content and activity. For the last 5 years, Tom has been working on Espresso – LinkedIn’s horizontally scalable, NoSQL, document store that now powers LinkedIn’s member and company profiles, InMail, the network update stream, portions of the advertisement system, and many other applications.
